Astrology is just a finger pointing at reality. In my past experience about astrology for more than 15 years, I realized that astrology is the occult science which primarily depends on the accuracy of birth date and time out of which latter cannot be guaranteed. Hence the predictions which are made depending upon available data are not precise. This often leads to disappointment for the person who is seeking guidance and negative publicity for this science. In this world no prophecy can be correct cent percent. The Hindu faith has always accorded importance to three aspects which are astrology, ayurveda and yoga. Out of these three, astrology has always drawn curiosity of mankind - from the very poor to the wealthy. This science has been practised for more than thousand years and several historical references have been found in ancient scriptures.. History tells us that each kingdom had an astrologer in the royal court who offered guidance to the king by following planetary movements. The nine planets which are known as ‘navgrahas’ played a vital role in the prediction of future. Several references of “navgrahas” can be found in our ancient literature. As a student of science, I always wondered how the name and description of planets were known to the scholars almost thousand years before the invention of telescope. Mention of Pushpak viman (aircraft) can be found in Hindu mythology well before the forefathers of Wright brothers were born. Then does studying and following astrology pragmatically makes us less scientific or primitive? Of course not. |
